More than 5 million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer’s disease, and this number will quadruple by 2050, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2010, the APA will announce the proposed draft diagnostic criteria for DSM-5. These will be posted onwww.DSM5.org for public review and comment until April 20, 2010. EAPA members are invited to review the draft criteria. Because DSM is widely used by so many health care professionals in a variety of care settings, your input is crucial.

The Employee Assistance Professionals Association will be conducting an election during 2010 for all Board of Directors open positions to serve from October 2010 through October 2012. Nominations are now being accepted through June 30, 2010. Only active members may nominate themselves or other deserving members. The election will again be conducted online, with the voting period running from July 15, 2010 through August 13, 2010. Installation of new Directors will take place at the Tampa Conference, October 8, 2010.
